Wash-Off Horizontal Plate Filters are designed for applications allowing the use of synthetic cloth or wire mesh filter media. The advantage to this filter is that the cartridge can be cleaned without disassembling. Cartridges are cleaned by removing them from the tank, pivoting them on a frame leaving the plates in a vertical orientation, permitting cake removal by vibration, tapping or washing off.
Wash off Filters can be fully automated and the filter cake can be removed in closed position. For a slurry cake discharge a sluice system will be implemented. For a dry cake discharge we make use of a vibration system in combination with a screw conveyer.

Cake stability

Due to the horizontal position of the filter plates, the filter cake is unaffected by pressure fluctuations or process shut-down. Good possibility for cake washing, extraction or drying.

All types of filter media can be used, eventually in combination with the use of filter aids.

Totally enclosed construction

Prevents evaporation, leakage and fumes from escaping, no contamination by air. Permits clean operation.

Quick cleaning

The filter cake can be removed without disassembly of the cartridge by "hosing off"(wet) or "tapping"(dry).

Full Automation Slurry Cake Discharge

With the "Tilt Tank" version the filter cake can be removed as a slurry in a completely closed -system.

Full Automation Dry Cake Discharge

The "Tilt Tank" version also offers the filter cake to be removed as a dry filter cake. A vibrator in combination with a screw conveyer removes the filter cake.

Wash off tilting tank

The Wash off Tilting Tank version can be automated providing economies in labor. The filter tank, which is mounted in an A-frame, is maintained in vertical position for filtering. After the filtration the tank is tilted to horizontal position for cleaning. The cake can be sluiced off and discharged as a wet slurry.

Catalyst recovery

The Wash Off filter assures complete separation of catalyst and product. The catalyst can be returned to the reactor in a totally closed system.

Sugar filtration

Bleaching of cane sugar can be executed in a totally closed system.

Activated carbon removal

Full product recovery in combination with a horizontal filter plate position. For clarification of liquids after decolonisation, purification or -deodorisation processes.

Filter Plates

The filter plates are standard in 316SS and can be covered with metal wire mesh screens. This can be single layer or multi layer sintered mesh. Alternative synthetic media can be applied. Filter plates made out of Polypropylene or PVDF can be applied in combination with synthetic cloth. Filter cloth and wiremesh can be provided in a variety of materials and weaves to suit the characteristic of the product to be filtered. The distance between the filter plates can be adapted to the individual application to suit solid load of the liquid to be filtered and the cake height attainable.
